The aim of the project is to change the way we experience things, environment or spaces that we live in and consider their possibilities.
I am collecting some mundane objects that have been ignored or unnoticed from the area in GaoXiong. The process of collecting these objects will allow me to slow down my pace to observe and experience the living environment that is closest to me and understand more about the culture of the local resident.
After collecting, I used gauze to wrap the objects that I collected. This process is allow me to transform familiar objects into something unfamiliar by changing their original function and appearance. The process of “wrapping” also symbolizes “Rebirth”.
Local resident are invited to get involved in the coloring process. In this process, the objects will transformed into something else with new stories or new meanings.
The whole process will facilitate the participants an opportunity to look at their living environments in different ways. They may find that the trivial maybe the most interesting thing in one’s life. Slowing down our pace and with curiosity and mindfulness will help us to find the beauty of life. This is one of the ways to find our “Home”.
