Photographs are used to separate and reorganize the recorded images. The final finished product looks like a complete building with a complete story background. In fact, it does not exist at all, it is all fabricated. The writing of our historical has always been decided in the hand of the authorities to determine what is perfect and what to be presented to the public. What is the truth behind this? I think we can only refer to the clues left by all aspects, self-analysis to capture the answer.
Sewing is an ancient industry, a traditional handicraft. I use this slowly phase of sewing to counter the fast phase of our current living environment, and to link and balance between the past and the present. We are now living in an industrial age where everything is in fast phase. Our environment is changing rapidly. Many new buildings are in building in a rapid phase and many are disappearing in the blink of an eye. This speed can make people very anxious and panic because things disappear too quickly. We have nothing to believe and rely on.
The needlework in my work is brought together a series of thin black lines, weaving, breaking, and re-linking, this reflects the flow of time. It is recorded by my life, time and emotion. One line, and one line, is like a story after one after another. When the needles go up and down, it is like the relationship between people, because they interact with each other and are connected through interaction.
Traditional buildings are built horizontally and current modern building built vertically. If we kept the design of traditional building and built it vertically, is that a way to maintain the connection between generations?
The rise of a generation represents the demise of another era, and the rise of the new era has been sustained by the nourishment provided by countless previous eras. In my artworks, the building is form by different era’s building and it grown vertically. The building is grown from the nourishment provided by countless previous eras.
