Where I Come From II
“We study the past to understand the present; we understand the present to guide the future.” -- William Lund.
The world keeps changing, but the past and the history will not change. No matter how the world changes, the history forms present. The development of civilization and cultural history has to be co-exist, otherwise it will be unbalanced. In other words, development of civilization and culture history is Yin and Yang, they are two oppositional force interactions, they have to be co-existing to each other in order to keep the force balance and harmony.
In this work, one is a representative of the civilization development, the second one is a representative of traditional culture. In their body has found the traces of each other, on behalf of the existing between them a fusion, an inevitable connection. I purposely make them into lively form. The form itself depicts the proofs of surviving and they are fighting for live.
I hope that we can be more sensibility to our environment, to embrace the culture that we have. We are uncertain on the connections and spaces between people that may trigger various imagination and inner feeling that can lead to ineffable personal feelings and memories. The space/ground and the memories we share are bound us together.
